Accounts - Credit & Collections Specialist

Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and confident Credit & Collections Specialist to join our growing business within the fuel industry. This role is critical in managing a high-value customer ledger within a company of significant turnover, ensuring timely collections while maintaining strong client relationships.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage and collect outstanding debts across a large, high-value ledger

  • Conduct regular credit control calls, maintaining a professional and assertive telephone manner

  • Conduct regular credit reviews of new and existing customers, assessing financial risk and setting appropriate credit limits

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to facilitate prompt payment

  • Assess and review customer credit limits, conducting risk analysis where required

  • Investigate and resolve invoice disputes efficiently – not needed

  • Monitor aged debt reports and escalate high-risk accounts appropriately to Management

  • Negotiate payment plans where necessary while protecting company interests

  • Work closely with the Sales teams to resolve credit queries

  • Ensure all collections activity is compliant with company policies and relevant regulations

  • Maintain accurate records of all communications and actions taken

  • Report Insured Overdue Debt to Credit Insurers and Credit Broker when required

  • Leases with Credit Insurers and Credit Broker regarding Insured Credit Limit requires/ dispute credit limit decisions

  • Work closely with Head of Finance for credit reviews and credit limit increase approvals

  • Proven experience in credit control and collections

  • Experience conducting credit reviews and making risk-based decisions

  • Confident and professional telephone manner, with strong negotiation skills

  • Ability to handle difficult conversations and secure positive outcomes

Job overview

As a New Business Developer, you will play a key role in driving growth by identifying and securing new clients for our fuel card and fuel management solutions. This is a fast-paced, target-driven position suited to someone who is confident, proactive, and motivated by results. You’ll be responsible for building your own pipeline, engaging decision-makers, and converting opportunities into long-term business relationships.​

 

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively generate new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, and outbound activity

  • Identify and engage potential customers, including fleet operators, SMEs, and procurement teams

  • Present and promote fuel cards and cost management solutions, clearly demonstrating value and savings

  • Analyse prospective client fuel usage and current supplier arrangements to highlight cost-saving opportunities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers

  • Develop and execute effective sales strategies to achieve and exceed targets

  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through to negotiation and close

  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth onboarding experience and long-term customer satisfaction

  • Accurately record activity, opportunities, and pipeline within the CRM system

Skills required

  • Experience in sales, business development, or a similar role (fuel or energy experience advantageous but not essential)

  • Confident communicator with strong objection handling and closing skills
